Black Butterfly (Augustus Color)
Thanks to WCPmedia Services production and editorial had continuous access to production medias and dailies.
Production & Post
Brian Goodman directed Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Black Butterfly, based on French thriller Papillon Noir and shot in rural Italy.
Produced by AMBI Pictures and Paradox Studios.
Augustus Color, the Rome-based post production lab, needed to deliver dailies, production assets and finished master, from production locations in Italy to production partners (e.g. editors, visual effects providers, producers) spanning from Italy, Spain and US.
WCPMedia Services’ role
Thanks to WCPmedia Services full dailies sets have been delivered to the film’s editorial team following each production day. Producers and other stakeholders, meanwhile, were able to review dailies media via password-secure our Screening Room.
Moreover Augustus Color used WCPMedia throughout the post production process to store and share assets, including rough cuts and high-resolution media from visual effects and color grading sessions.
Finished master files were easily shared through WCP thanks to its Aspera integration and high capacity on cloud storage.
The result was significant time and cost savings, and improved security over the delivery of physical assets.
“WCPMedia streamlines the production workflow by reducing transfer times compared with standard courier delivery and does so securely. The Screening Room provides our customers with a beautiful collaboration tool to review content and work as a team in real-time from any location with no need for physical media to be delivered to the editor or the production supervisors.”
Says Augusto Pelliccia, General Manager and founder of Augustus Color.
“The ability to immediately access media assets from anywhere in the world is a huge benefit for geographically distributed productions like Black Butterfly” says Pelliccia. “With WCPMedia, all of your content is in one place and you have the ability to share assets and make comments. It gives you the power of a true media asset management system. It’s the perfect tool for modern film production.”
